The organisms that cause tavellers' diarrhoea are found worldwide, but transmission is more likely in countries with lower food hygiene standards, inadequate sanitation facilities and limited access to clean water. It is one of the most common health issues experienced by travellers, as anyone who is not preparing their own food and drink while travelling is at risk. Risk is highest for people travelling to Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and most parts of Asia.
